Our Dirt Road Diaries
Most of what I shoot takes place right here on our little piece of the 'North Woods' in the Fox River Valley. Sure, there are aspects of a suburban subdivision we long for, like sidewalks and neighbors that don't hoard rusty farm equipment in their backyard, but we wouldn't trade it for our dirt road diaries and enchanted forests. What makes a home are the memories and traditions you make there. During the cold seasons, it's our cozy cave where we sit around the fireplace under blankets (and we may or may not be able to make it up on the steep icy road), but in the warm months its our cabin, our vacation home, our party house, and our playground. Clayton loves all it has to offer and I love capturing his childhood exactly like this.
Snippets of our life...
My absolute favorite form of photography is documentary lifestyle. The type of photography that can tell as story without words. I love looking back at pictures that evoke the emotion and smells and sounds that bring you right back to that moment.
Today I had the day off work and the sunlight was shining into Clayton's room just right. I had to capture these moments of quiet and rest.
He's SO active these days. This morning alone he learned to open the door to let himself outside and started the dishwasher all on his own. He's bursting with personality. And then this happens. He crashes and falls deep into dreamland.
You see that beautiful crib in the top right corner? Yeah. Never used. Clayton sleeps on a floor bed and has since he was big enough to roll of the bed. When he's tired he runs into his own bed and I snuggle him to sleep here. It's too bad he wasn't in his usual starfish pose.
